Tommy and Kimberly didn’t say much to each other during their time in the old command center. He would occasionally point out what something was or why certain equipment was used and gave a brief history of his process, but other than that, it was a quick tour.
They made there way back up the stairs and joined Jason in the kitchen, who was finishing up his second glass of wine.
“How was the tour?” he asked innocently. Having heard the momentary screech of Kimberly’s voice when Tommy had bombarded her with questions. He couldn’t wait until dinner.
“Interesting.” Kimberly said under her breath. Tommy shot Jason a look and started moving the food to the table.“Enough of your techno talk. My plan is moving along even better than ever. The best part is, Kimberly still thinks it’s all her fault, she still doesn’t suspect anything.”
“That may be true, but we still cannot be too sure of ourselves,” came Goldar’s voice from the shadows.
“Are you eavesdropping?” asked Rita angrily.
“No, my queen. I am only warning you. Every time before that we’ve thought we’ve won, we still ended up losing.”
“I know that you buffoon.” "Hey guys, look what I can do!" Jareth called. As soon as he was sure they were paying attention, he brought out his scythe and turned it upside down, so that the sword hilt faced upwards, the Lion's head on the end blinking amusedly. Tracing his fingers back and forth between the shaft of the scythe and the blade, Jareth left behind a glowing strands of golden light. Once there were enough, he ran his hand along them...and produced a sound as though he were strumming a harp.
"Great," Myk said. "Now he has an instrument."
Jareth plucked out a simple tune, and sang a few notes in harmony with them....not a bad sound.
"Hey, Kira, why don't you sing along?"
The Lion's head atop the hilt blinked in surprise. "I don't know the words."
“I am only saying it because you seem too happy about this turn of events.”
Jason refilled his wine glass and poured two more for the others. Kimberly took her seat while Tommy started dishing out the salads and pasta. Jason set the wine on the counter and grabbed the garlic bread. Setting it down on his side of the table, he took his seat. Tommy joined them. The trio was silent for a few minutes as they all began to eat cautiously. A few polite smiles and appreciative nods were made in Tommy’s direction, congratulating him on a delicious meal. Kimberly eyed Tommy carefully, watching him twirl his pasta around his fork. He looked up to see her staring. She gave him a small smile, which he returned.
