“I didn’t even get a say in any of that. You didn’t call me or write me telling you felt that way. All of our phone conversations, all of our letters up until that point had been happy, hopeful. How long were you lying to me?” Tommy demanded. He stood up from the table, at which point Kimberly retreated back to her seat, wanting to be as physically disjointed from him as possible. He crossed over to the counter and grabbed the bottle of wine, taking a massive swig from it. He tried to control his breathing, to no avail.

Kimberly didn’t look at him, just traced the rim of her glass with her finger. “I didn’t lie to you Tommy. I hadn’t even started dating Keith until after the letter. But things were obviously developing between us and I didn’t want to lead him on or mislead you. So I sent you the letter when I was ready to. I didn’t call or talk about it because at the time, I thought you would try to talk me out of it, and I didn’t want that.” Kimberly said calmly. Her mother quickly surrendered the card. If Kimberly was going to contact her best friend, her mother wouldn’t stop her. She was hoping that the promise she’d made to Kimberly would soon end. After all, if she was calling Trini, the others couldn’t be too far behind. “Kimberly, I’m going to go back to the hotel room for a little bit and maybe look around town. I’ll be back this afternoon around two though.”Myk considered. "Well....we'll decide what to do when we get there."

As they continued down into Scepter's Throne, the Bronze Ranger pondered their objective. The Sword of Light. A Sword of pure, unblemmished goodness. A weapon of truth and justice, a blade against which no evil could stand. It almost made his mouth water.

He'd have to be the one to weild it, of course. Deacon was undoubtedly better with a sword, but his temper was legendary. The last time he'd let his anger get the best of him...well. No one liked to talk about that. No, Deacon had too much evil in him to be trusted with such a weapon. And as for Jareth, anything mellower had been shot. He was far too relaxed, taking everything as it came. There was no way he could be trusted to handle the sort of responsibility involved in weilding a weapon like the one they sought.

“Okay. Bye mom.”

As soon as her mom, Dr. Matthews, and the nurse left the room, Kimberly reached for the phone beside her bed. She flipped the phone card over and followed the instructions before dialing Trini’s dormitory number. Once Trini had returned from the Peace Conference, she’d begun taking summer courses at the college of her choice – MIT. She was majoring in computer science with a minor in communications.

“Of course I would have tried to talk you out of it! You weren’t even dating him! At least if you had cheated, I would have known you were breaking up with me based on a legitimate relationship! You broke up with me on a hunch! An inkling that you and this Keith guy had ‘feelings’ for one another!” Tommy shouted. He couldn’t believe the things he was saying. They were unnecessary, but his pride was beyond repair.
