“Yeah. Jason told me.” She said, trying to get a read on Tommy’s face. She couldn’t. Where the hell was this conversation going?
“We were together when you and Jason got kidnapped.” He added. Still not sure how to steer this all to a point. As she glanced across the lake, she realized how the setting sun beams hit the lake at just the right angle, creating a ray of spectacular colors. Kimberly delighted in the simple beauty of it all. It felt so good to be home again. She backed her chair up, and turned it again, heading toward home. “Home” right now was with the Campbells. Even though Aisha had gone to Africa, they had been kind enough to loan her a place to stay until she could find a new apartment. Kimberly was grateful to them for everything.
As Kimberly wheeled herself home, she smiled as she came upon a familiar figure. “Tommy! It’s so good to see you!”"Oh, I wasn't complaining. Just making conversation." The group came to a junction point, a circular chamber where several tunnels seemed to meet, branching off in every direction. Following the compass, as the Turbo navigator had ceased to function at all, the group set off down the appropriate tunnel.
The trio eventually came to a crossroads.
"Which way now?" Deacon asked.
Jareth consulted his compass. "Umm....that way?" he said, sounding confused, pointing back the way they had come.
"We just came from that way," Myk said.
"I'm well aware of that, Hero," Jareth replied. "Now, tell it to the compass."
"Well, you're OBVIOUSLy reading it wrong."
"The arrow is pointing back the way we came. Please tell me how it is I'm misinterpreting THAT."
Tommy didn’t answer. Instead, he continued walking down the street, not giving her the time of day. Kimberly’s mouth dropped. She had to be seeing things. This was not her Tommy. Kimberly turned her chair around and began wheeling toward him. “Tommy! Tommy did you hear me?”
Tommy stopped suddenly and turned. Kimberly quickly put on the brakes to avoid running into him. “Oh… it’s you…” he commented rudely.
“What do you mean? Thomas Oliver, you’d better have a reason for saying that!”
“Yes, Tommy, I know.” Kimberly said, becoming irritated. If he had a point to make, he better make it soon, Kimberly didn’t know how much more of this she could take. “Look, if you’re trying to get me to tell you that the reason I didn’t talk to you after Muranthias was because of you and Kat, you’re wasting your time. Keith and I weren’t dating anymore by then and I hadn’t known about you and Kat until that trip anyway. God knows how long it had been since we had actually talked to one another and by that point, I thought it didn’t matter anymore.” Kimberly sighed. That wasn’t completely true. She had assumed Tommy was happy with Katherine, and therefore didn’t want to intrude on his life. He had obviously moved on, just as she had. But she had wanted to talk to him, she just didn’t think it was appropriate.
