“I had been wanting to talk to you ever since you had been freed from Maligore’s spell. Obviously between then and the Karate tournament there really hadn’t been a chance to do so. I was watching you and Jason after we won and I have to admit, I got jealous.” Tommy blushed slightly, causing Kimberly to grin. Tommy returned it with a small smile of his own. It was nice to see her smile again, however confused she might be.
“ Anyway, Katherine must have noticed, cause she asked to speak with me after the award ceremony. She broke up with me, Kim.” Tommy added. Kimberly was now, officially confused. What was he trying to say?
“Am I supposed to feel guilty?” She asked, biting her lip. She hadn’t meant that to sound as bitchy as it had come out.“Kimberly Hart, I don’t need a reason,” he replied, mocking her. The Bronze Ranger sighed. "Let's go." Turning to leave, he tripped as his talon-shaped boot caught in a deep groove in the floor. "Ow." Myk sighed. "I hate this place."
"Hey, it was YOUR idea to come down here," Deacon said.
As the other two went back down the passage, Jareth knelt down and examined the groove over which Myk had tripped. "Hmm....."
Deacon turned. "You coming?"
"Hmm? Yeah." Jareth rose to his feet and followed.
Once again they came to the junction point, and once again, following the compass, they chose a tunnel and ventured on.
"Okay, which way now?" Deacon asked as they came to yet another crossroads.
Jareth consulted the golden compass around his neck. "Guys...you won't believe this...."
Kimberly couldn’t believe he’d said that. “But you said… on the phone…”
“It’s so easy to lie on the phone, isn’t it? Sorry beautiful, I lied.” He turned and quickly strolled off.
Kimberly wheeled after him, but he was too quick for her. Her hands quickly grew tired of going so fast and she stopped, long to chase after the retreating shadow. “Tommy! Tommy!” she yelled after him.
“…Tommy…. Tommy….” Kimberly mumbled in her sleep. She awoke with a start, and realized she’d been crying again.
There was a knock on the door. “Come in,” Kimberly called miserably.
Tommy flew over to her and slid into the chair beside her. He grabbed her hands and held them in his own. She flinched slightly and then relaxed again.
“No, Kim, let me finish.” He hushed her. She only nodded and let him continue. “Kat broke up with me because she knew it wasn’t working. Me and her, it just wasn’t meant to be. She knew I wasn’t in love with her. I was in love with someone else.” Tommy said, giving Kim’s tiny hands a small squeeze. Kimberly felt her breath catch in her throat. She loved Tommy. She hadn’t ever stopped loving him, but they couldn’t possibly just pick up where they had left off. Could they?
