“ I should go.” She said, turning on her heels and exiting the room. She found Jason, staring out the window.
“We should leave.” She told him, brushing past him to open the front door. She made a quick exit and started heading for the car.
Jason reentered the kitchen finding Tommy still sitting at the table, not having moved since Kimberly’s fast escape.
“So what happens now?” Jason asked his silent friend. Tommy looked up and shook his head.Kimberly looked at the nurse, who had already set up the wheelchair. It was black in color, and had a black mesh bag on the back for any items to be carried. The bright chromed wheels shined brightly. She suspected that the chair was brand-new. Dr. Matthews lifted Kimberly from her bed and placed her in the chair. At first, Kimberly felt odd; she had never sat in a wheelchair before, but the feeling soon subsided.
As soon as the nurse began wheeling her into the hallway, Kimberly began feeling helpless. She wanted to be independent again. It wasn’t fair. The nurse stopped just outside of her room. “All right Kimberly, now I’m going to show you how to work your wheelchair. I’m very sure you’ll catch on quickly.” The older woman smiled down at her. No sooner had the five Rangers appeared than they were assaulted by their respective counterparts.
"Arctic Axe!" Electra cried, the power weapon materializing in her black-gauntleted hand. "So, what's your deal?"
"We are the Psycho Rangers," her opponent said, sparks flying as her twisted black axe crossed with Electra's. "And we will be your downfall."
Electra let go of her axe with her right arm and aimed it at Psycho Black's stomach, the mechanism on her wrist firing a grappling hook on a study black tether. Psycho Black staggered back, clutching at the rent in her armor the hook had left behind.
Tommy drew the short sword from it's sheath on his back, swinging down at Psycho Red, who parried with his own demented mockery of the Red Power Sword. Tommy's sword went flying, but before the Red Psycho Ranger could strike again, Tommy summoned his real weapon. "Tyrant Sword!" The Red Power Weapon was nothing but a blur as Tommy relentlessly hammered back Psycho Red, bringing him to his knees. "They always try evil rangers, and it never works," he said.
For the next hour, Kimberly worked with the nurse. It didn’t take long for her to get the hang of navigating around the hallway. The nurse was pleased with Kimberly’s progress and allowed her to visit the patient lounge room. “I’ll be down the hall if you need anything dear,” called the nurse as she left the room.
Kimberly wheeled herself over to the giant window. She looked out at her surroundings. The hospital was overlooking the downtown shopping district, a place Kimberly would much rather be. She sat by the window, just gazing down at the city below. She didn’t notice other people join her in the room.
“Kimberly! There you are!”
“I don’t know.” Tommy said. He knew what he wanted, but based on her reaction, he had a feeling Kimberly didn’t feel the same. The two men sat in silence for a moment before Jason heard the car horn beep from the driveway.
“I’ll call you tomorrow, bro.” Jason said finally, seeing himself out.
